Welcome to the online presence for the Hilo Art Museum.
It is through the kindness and generosity of people like you that allows us to continue on our mission, bringing art from around the world to the people of Hawai'i, and art from
Hawai'i to people around the world; providing a safe and exciting place to teach kids about art, culture and the environment; and helping to promote awareness and action for
protecting the world that we live in.
Being the first, and only, general art museum on the Big Island of Hawai'i carries with it a world of promise and responsibility that we hope
will be an inspiration for generations to come. We accept this responsibility and welcome the challenge.
While we still don't have a permanent home, we do have a number of areas in and around the Hilo area that we are able to produce some spectaular exhibitions. Our goal is to find a home
during the course of 2009 that will serve as our main location for many years. We will continue to have exhibits on display in various places throughout the Big Island so that all people will
have the opportunity to enjoy world-class art.

The Hilo Art Museum continues its efforts in making our facilities
accessible to all visitors with special needs. Led by the efforts of Thijs van den Berg, we provide deaf friendly tours with a guide signing in ASL as well as working towards having Braille plaques for each
display.
MasterClass Art, the company that has provided the HAM with its teaching collection, will hand paint any of the teaching collection works for you.
Or, if you have a favorite master painting, contact MasterClass Art
and request a hand painted reproduction in any size you prefer. Sales of hand painted master reproductions benefits the Hilo Art Museum's education program, supporting our Mobile Museum Project, bringing art directly to the children of Hawaii.
